"Through a Child's Eyes" is designed to help adults understand children's perceptions, grieving processes and reactions to death. It is never easy for anyone to cope with, confront, or discuss death. Hopefully, this guide will make that task a little less painful. "Through a Child's Eyes" was originally published in 1991 while the author was serving on a crisis team during the Persian Gulf War. Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, copies of the booklet were sent to New York and distributed by Operation Blessing to families who lost loved ones during this tragic time. In the summer of 2002, the booklet was used by Camp Agape as their official guidebook. Camp Agape is a non-profit organization, providing a summer camp experience for grieving children at no cost to the families. Sponsorships are derived through private donations. "Through A Child's Eyes" booklet is designed specifically in an outline form for ease and quick reference for professionals, nonprofessionals, parents, family and friends of children who are trying to cope with past, present, or impending loss. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dodie Lemley has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1977, devoting much of her practice to grief therapy. She is also a credentialed teacher and has taught elementary through college-age students. Dodie has assisted in the development of Camp Agape, a summer bereavement camp for children in the Texas Hill Country.
